Austin Trout makes history at BKFC 57

In the midst of an electric atmosphere at The Seminole Hard Rock Casino, history was made. The fans were treated to fantastic card and exciting fights throughout the event, which culminated with Austin “No Doubt” Trout doing what, up to this point, seemed impossible in the world of Bareknuckle boxing. Defeating Luis “The Baboon” Palomino to secure the BKFC Welterweight title. Palomino, boasting a 9-0 bare-knuckle record and an over 6-year undefeated streak inside the squared circle, suffered the first loss of his career via unanimous decision victory claimed by Trout.

Trout used superior footwork, distance, and an array of stabs to the body to slow the normally hyper-aggressive Palomino. Who was unable to get off first or use his physical style to trap Trout along the ropes. Through the first three rounds of action, Trout was able to nullify or handle any power shots The Baboon could throw his way. A perfectly timed, sneaky shovel hook/uppercut snuck under Palomino’s left arm while in the clench to produce the only knockdown of the fight in round 4. The knockdown was in question by many ringside observers, but the slow-motion video clearly shows Trout landing the sneaky shot as Palomino’s foot was off the ground during a clinch. In the 5th and final round, Palomino possibly feeling the scores were not going his way attempted to press the action and stormed forward the entire round only to be met with Trout’s superior footwork and accurate strikes, he avoided any fireworks from The Baboon to claim the strap. Trout used a very effective, intelligent game plan of focusing on distance, footwork, and jabs to the body to control the action from the beginning bell.

On a night where Luis Palomino stated he “wasn’t able to get his timing. Taking nothing away from Trout, he fought a great fight, but I just was off timing all night.”. Trout capitalized on superior boxing skills and the experience of half a dozen world title fights in the world of traditional boxing to add to his legacy by becoming the first-ever boxing champion to secure a title in Bareknuckle boxing.
